Windows Vista and Windows 7 both come from Microsoft, but they are different. So now is the time to consider using Open Source, because it is also a bit different.
When you know that a change is inevitable, a slightly different change is not as big a problem as change when you were not expecting any. So take advantage of the release of Windows 7 to consider Open Source.
